Funeral services for Capt. E Roy Byrd head of Troop F Louisiana state police will be held at 5 p m today at Mulhearn Funeral home chapel with Rev W D Milton officiating Interment will follow in Hasley cemetery in West Monroe Byrd died after a week of illness at St Francis Sanitarium He commanded all state police operations in 12 northeast Louisiana parishes and had served with Troop F for 17 years Survivors include wife Louise Byrd two daughters Barbara Byrd and Mrs Joe Lee Brown, two sons Richard Roy Byrd, his mother Ellie Byrd, two sisters and three brothers He resided at 105 Linderman Street West Monroe Pallbearers will be members of troops of the state police including Lt James Daniel Lt Marvin P Deen Jr Sgt W B Awl Sgt Cloyd W Edwards Sgt S E Fisher Sgt Jeff B Gulley Sgt J W Jones Trooper David L Chase The body will remain at Mulhearn chapel until service time

Couple Wanted In Monroe On Forgery Counts
Ouachita parish sheriff detains a couple held in Beaumont Texas on four forgery counts. Mr and Mrs W J Gosher face three forgery counts in Ouachita for forging three checks on Monroe Roofing and Sheet Metal Works around August 8. A store manager alerted police after a suspicious check cashing led to a license trace. The pair, found with a check protector and blank checks, may be extradited. they are also sought in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
