Monroe Woman Killed in Red Point Crash
Mrs. Ray Myrtle Garrett of Monroe died when the car she rode in with her daughter Mrs. David Talley swerved to avoid a slower vehicle on US 80 near Red Point. Talley, 28, was seriously injured with multiple fractures. Talley’s three year old grandson Steven Whipple escaped harm. A third vehicle driven by Lloyd Benton Green, 17, of Haughton, struck the Talley car as it slid on a rain slicked highway. Garrett’s son John B. Garrett, stationed in Thailand, was reported to be flown home by the Red Cross.
