Carrier Salesmen Club Outing Planned at Clear Lake Today

The Carrier Salesmen's Club and about eighty guests will travel to Clear Lake for a day of outdoor activities including swimming fishing and boating. Fairbanks Jr hospitalised with pneumonia after London trip

West Monroe forms American Legion post No 201

West Monroe post No 201 of the American Legion was organized at Crosley school auditorium Friday. Harvey McDonald elected post commander with Joe Durrett as vice commander and Bill Bawcom as sergeant at arms. About 40 charter members joined as Roland Cocrehamy and Leonard Jackson assisted, while talks by Dr C L Mengis and Sam Orchard supported the effort to serve veterans on the west side and spur rivalry with L B Faulk post. Two membership teams were created led by Sidney Freeman and Sam Humphries to recruit more veterans.

Shreveport Forgery Suspect Detained by State Police

Charles G. Berry was taken into custody Saturday by state highway officers on a request from Shreveport authorities and held at police headquarters. He is said to be wanted in Shreveport on a forgery charge.
