Albert Ruzse Erskine, former Studebaker manager ousted by receivership, shot himself in the heart at his South Bend home. The 62 year old left a note for his adopted son Russell and died about 9 am as wife left for breakfast. Paul G. Hoffman, Studebaker receiver, announced the death.
Harold Neumann of Moline Illinois and Art Davis of Lansing Michigan won early races in the American air races in Chicago. Neumann led in the first 25 mile event with a monocoupe, averaging 107.26 mph to claim the $1,000 prize, followed by Roy Hunt, Charles Smith, and Roy Tooman Jr.
