Pine Bluff Arkansas June 17 The Pine Bluff judges defeated the Monroe Sports 8 to 5 to square their three game Cotton States League series at a victory apiece. Adam Stempkowski pitched all nine innings for the judges.
The Monroe Sports wrap up a road trip at Pine Bluff and return home tomorrow to start a three game series with the Greenville Bucks followed by two games with the El Dorado Oilers starting Thursday. They then hit the road for three at Greenville and two at El Dorado.
The Sports eroded a shaky start as Billy Muffett pitched nine innings surrendering nine hits. Allen Cross blasted a two run homer for Monroe in a five run third inning. Hal Bollinger hit and long triple for Pine Bluff while Ramm Scored on a wild pitch and repeated double steal. The Judges rallied with four in the fourth and two more in the seventh to pull ahead, but the Sports answered with decisive offense to tie and edge ahead.
Pine Bluff 8 defeated Monroe 5 and Hot Springs 7 defeated Natchez 4. El Dorado 16 beat Greenwood 6 while Clarksdale 7 beat Greenville 5.
