29 Enlistees In U S Navy Reported By Monroe Station

Monroe officer John T Reagan announced 29 local men enlisted in the U S Navy through the Monroe recruiting station. Names and addresses span West Monroe Ruston Rayville Bastrop Delhi Collinston and other area towns, with many graduates eligible for Navy trade school programs in aviation general service hospital and electronics. Singapore stands on a 220 square mile island.

Troop F based in Monroe reports 40 charges in the last week. Drunken driving spans four cases including Louis Navarro 40 Lake Providence Antonio Lopez 37 Tallulah John Newman 24 St. Joseph and John Simmons 50 Route 2 Monroe. Other counts include 15 reckless driving seven speeding in autos three speeding in trucks five no license three theft two disturbing the peace and one oversize load.

Northwestern Music Clinic Draws Students From Louisiana

The 18th annual summer music clinic at Northwestern State College runs June 10 to 22 with a 125 student limit. Recreation Program Registration Is Set at Lake Providence

Van Hicks announces a new registration date for the Lake Providence parish recreation program. On Monday June 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Legion Field, boys and adult leaders should attend to finalize plans for games starting Thursday June 7. About 125 boys expected. local merchants sponsor teams and will provide T shirts and caps. Rayon was originally called artificial flax.

Presbyterians Plan Vacation Church School in Grammont Area

The First Presbyterian church at Grammont and Catalpa will run a six day Vacation Church School from June 4 to June 9, 9 to 11:30 a.m. daily. The program includes Bible study, filmstrips, crafts, and is open to children ages 4 through 13 with separate classes. A closing picnic at the American Legion home is planned for 5 p.m. on June 9. drinks are provided by the church.

Fire Department Responded to Fifty-Six May Alarms

Monroe fire department answered fifty six alarms in May per a records bureau report by P V Cutter. Of these, fifty were inside the city and six outside. City calls included sixteen dwelling fires, two building fires, five trash fires, four automobile fires, one investigation, three gasoline events, and seventeen miscellaneous calls.

Fire and emergency calls report grass blaze and mower incident

Brief triage outlined several calls including dwelling spread to grass fires a fallen lawn mower and a drowning concern plus a tractor fire. The report notes multiple emergency responses and the need for rapid coordination.
