Capt Phillips Oxnam Receives Purple Heart for Italy Wounds
Captain Philip H. Oxnam former Protestant chaplain at Selman field earned the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Italy on November 1. The message to Bishop G Bromley Oxnam and Mrs. Oxnam of Boston states he has recovered enough to return to duty. Oxnam arrived at Selman in August and helped establish the first post chapel and a house of worship. He trained at Fort Benjamin Harrison and previously led the Oxford Massachusetts Methodist church before joining the army in 1942. He studied six institutions of higher learning and traveled widely, including many war theaters.

Lieutenant Milton D. Lunenfeld, a 51 mission North Africa veteran and air medal recipient, will address the 43 16 graduation class at Selmanfield's Post theater. He trained at Selman field, graduated Turner Field in 1942, and flew raids over Naples Messina Bizerte and Tripoli. He helped sink the cruiser Trieste on April 10 1948 with 18 ships in formation.
