James R Church 21 of Brodhead remains in serious condition at St. Clare Hospital after a one car crash on Highway 11 left him with head injuries. The vehicle slid off the road, struck a tree, and overturned in a field.

Vandalism Reported To Heavy Equipment

Bruce Miller reports heavy damage to equipment at the Indergand Gravel Pit on County Trunk Y. He last saw it intact last Saturday, but damage appeared when he returned Tuesday, and the Sheriff's Department investigates vandalism at the site.

U S Suffers Heavy Losses in Vietnam

U S forces in South Vietnam suffered the heaviest toll of the war last week with 970 casualties including 142 killed and 825 wounded and three missing or captured. Viet Cong and North Vietnamese deaths reached 1,165 as Marine operations near the DMZ continued. Total U S fatalities since 1966 rose to 3,424 with 19,372 wounded and 315,000 American personnel in country.

Nails spill on U S 6 after truck loses cargo

Highway crews cleaned eight miles of roadway after a flatbed truck carrying 136 boxes of nails spilled 35 cartons on U S 6 near Orland Park. Driver Haldon Spriggs, 34, of Indianapolis, was arrested for spilling a load and released on bond. No road closure, motorists cursed, an accident caused minor injuries.

Timothy Brennan 76 Dies After Illness in Monroe Manor

Timothy Brennan aged 76 of Monroe died at 2 p m yesterday after a cerebral hemorrhage and illness. Born in Clarno Township on October 12 1890 he farmed there until 1957 then moved to Monroe. Survived by three brothers Dennis John Frank and one sister Miss Jennie Brennan.
