Green County highway open house promotes 1970 projects
Green County Highway Department hosts an open house at State Highway 59 near the County Jail and Ag Building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday during National Highways Week. The event highlights ongoing road work, completed resurfacing on Highway 59, and upcoming 1971 bituminous surfacing plans.

The Department of Natural Resources says Vilas and Oneida counties will reach peak fall color this weekend while the northwestern state shows about 20 percent color. Farther south the Kettle Moraine area near Fond du Lac should be fully colored by mid October. Winnebago and Outagamie Counties report colors just starting to turn. Fishing remains good with Lake Superior trout, perch in the northeast, walleye along the Mississippi in the west central district, brown trout off Lake Michigan beaches in the east central region, and southern fishing generally fair to good.
