Roland W. Blaha of Springfield Ill will receive St Cloud State Colleges Outstanding Alumni award October 28 during homecoming. Blaha a former Monroe banker and Illinois state regulator shares the honor with four other recipients and ties to his brother Dr M J Blaha Maryland.

The ninth annual Miss Farm Bureau contest begins with Green County for the fifth time sponsoring the Green County event. Entry blanks are from Mrs. Sam Waelti in Monroe. Applicants must be Farm Bureau members or from a Farm Bureau family, single, aged 18 to 30, with farm background and knowledge of Farm Bureau. The county contest will be judged at 8 p.m. Friday Oct 13 in the Farm Bureau Room.

Estate Benefits Home for Aged
The New Glarus Home for the Aged receives 79581.16 from the estate of Monroe businessman Charles A. Stubbe who died November 27, 1966. This amount is half of the final distribution of 169062.32 to be split with 18 nieces and nephews or their representatives. Stubbe left bequests to area churches and cemeteries and to local civic groups. The Commercial and Savings Bank of Monroe acted as executor with Kittlesen Brand and Barry handling the legal work.

Divers uncover sunken hoard off Scilly Islands
Divers retrieved about 1500 gold and silver coins including guineas crowns and pieces of eight from 100 feet deep near the Scilly Islands.
