Mark Severson Earns Eagle At Troop 101 Court

Mark Severson son of Victor and Sonja Severson received the Eagle Award at a Court of Honor banquet held by Troop 101 at Turner Hall. About 120 attended the pot luck event with Dr. Nathan E. Bear as featured speaker. Severson joined in 1963 and completed his Eagle in 1969.

Indians Arrested Hauling in Nets for Court Test

Fire Damages Iroquois Foundry in Racine

A fire at the Iroquois Foundry in Racine around 5 30 p.m. caused about 10000 in damage and halted operations for a couple of days. Sparks from a cupola sparked through a fire door injuring controls and part of the compressor room roof. The night shift workers and Racine Fire Department contained the blaze. The plant employs about 40 people and has a Browntown branch. Walter Vierthaler of Monroe, firm president, said operations would resume in two days.

Olive Skinner Carruthers 63 dies at Janesville

Brodhead native and author Olive Skinner Carruthers 63 of Janesville died September 17 at Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She authored We ll Sing One Song and Lincoln s Other Mary, worked for Evanston Review Chicago Tribune and the ALA, and held a Medill scholarship in 1953.

Youth Injured In City Mishap

A 13 year old, Michael A. Davis of Monroe, sustained head and leg injuries in a bicycle auto crash at the 11th Street and 14th Avenue intersection. He was treated at St. Clare Hospital and released. Ann C. McCall of Marengo, Ill., drove the other vehicle.
