Cheese Day in Green County Sparks Community Pride
Green County celebrates its cheese heritage with the first Cheese Day in Monroe. The event features 13 000 cheese sandwiches, 35 cheese pies, free coffee stands, bands, vaudeville acts, a bowery dance, and speeches by political candidates. Nearly 2000 attendees came despite cold winds.

Man Faces Robbery Charges in $70,000 Bank Theft
FBI says Richard H. Davis of Fond du Lac Wisconsin robbed an Illinois bank of 70 000 in blank traveler's checks and cash on June 28. He was arrested in Wisconsin on a Las Vegas warrant and could face robbery charges. The Pecatonica theft occurred near Rockford with a lightning alarm misread as a bank alarm. Nearby coins trailed from the bank to the getaway car. Rockettes strike despite wage dispute with Radio City Music Hall.
