Three Trucks Damaged In County Road Accidents
Three separate crashes damaged trucks in Green County over two days. An Arco Transport tractor with trailer veered off Highway 11 near Monroe and struck a tree near Cream Ridge. the driver escaped injury. A loaded gravel truck driven by Donald Ruef of Albany rolled after striking a windrow on Juda Road. Waelti and Zimmerman ownership sustained several hundred dollars in damage and Ruef was uninjured. A milk truck driven by Henry J. Jenney rolled after a brake failure seven miles southeast of Monroe on County Trunk near Twin Grove. Jenney injured and the truck damaged an embankment and a light pole. Lehr Cheese owner reported brakes were fixed recently.

Larger Wisconsin cities to join defense planning meeting
Madison officials announced a civilian defense planning conference for mayors and city managers of Wisconsin's larger cities to be held September 29. Gov Rennebohm said 10 000 plus population municipalities were invited to confer with Col. Ralph Olson, state director of civilian defense, to develop rapid municipal defense plans coordinated with state policy and the national security resources board. Smaller towns will receive similar assistance soon.
