Roy C Kubly taken by death in Madison Wisconsin

Roy C Kubly 50 Route 3 Monroe veteran of World War II died at 8:40 p m in the VA Hospital Madison after 30 days of hospitalization He served four years in the Army including 27 months in the South Pacific earning two battle stars Good Conduct ribbon combat infantry badge and Philippine invasion ribbon He was born Nov 13 1915 son of Conrad and Pearl Stapleton Kubly He married Beulah Hanson May 14 1942 in Jordan Lutheran Church He worked as truck driver for Lakeshore Dairy and later butter salesman for Monroe Dairy He also ran a butter and egg route for 12 years He lived in Jordan Township 10 years moving from Monroe He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church trustee American Legion and VFW He received a Green County Soil Conservation Award in 1965 Surviving widow two sons Terrance and Thomas brother Robert Kubly sister Mrs Helen Larson Burial in Greenwood Cemetery with military flag folding ceremony. Friends may call at the funeral home after tomorrow noon.

Three Seek Republican Nominations in Green Lafayette Races

Voters in Green and Lafayette Counties head to the polls Tuesday for three Republican primary races for sheriff assembly and senate seats. Undersheriff Roy G. Miss America Contest Nears Final as Charlene Dallas Leads

Charlene Diane Dallas 19 of Danville California tops early favorites as 50 contestants compete in Atlantic City. Calvert and Roseleip vie for Wisconsin Senate seat

Early Appeal For Toys By Monroe Christmas Stocking Drive

The Christmas Stocking Committee now funded by the United Fund of Monroe appeals for used large toys to brighten area children’s holidays. Monroe People Hurt in Mishap Near Polo Illinois

Mr and Mrs Stanley Beach and their son and daughter in law from Milwaukee escaped serious injury in a four vehicle collision about four miles north of Polo Illinois where highways 26 and 64 meet. The Kirchgassners car driven by Joanne Beach sustained major damage and four stitches were needed for John Kirchgassner. All four were treated at Freeport hospital and released. The Chicago occupants had minor injuries and planned medical care later.

Former Area Man In Airplane Mishap on Runway

Nicholas Quint Jr., formerly at Monroe Airport, escaped injury when a twin engine airplane collapsed on the Rock County Air runway during taxiing for takeoff. Pilot Claude Tate of Flint was aboard along with Quint, both uninjured. The hydraulic landing gear apparently failed, striking the runway and damaging propeller tips and the fuselage.
