Jet Plane Crashes Near Madison Field
An F102 B jet from the 325th Fighter Interceptor Squadron crashed on takeoff at Truax Air Field near Madison. Pilot Jean Franzoi, 26, ejected safely and lived in Sun Prairie. The craft was destroyed and the cause and ejection height were not yet known.

G. Fred Galli of Monroe unseated veteran Walter B. Calvert of Benton in yesterday's primary, winning 2,714 votes to 1,892 in Green and Lafayette Counties. Galli, a freshman assemblyman and executive with the Wisconsin Swiss and Lumber Cheese Producers Association, carried Green County heavily and lost only Brooklyn Village.
