Chicago Blames Kohler Zeidler For Veto of Bill
Chicago Sanitary District leaders blame Milwaukee officials Governor Kohler and Mayor Zeidler for President Eisenhower's pocket veto of a bill to raise Lake Michigan water diversion from 1 500 to 2 500 cubic feet per second into the Illinois Waterway. They argue Milwaukee polluted water sources and sought political gain, while Eisenhower cited four reasons to hesitate on diversions. The veto ends any action until next year.
