Two Antigo Loggers Die of Electrocution
Antigo men Jerry Bonnell aged 17 and John Steckbauer 42, both of Antigo, were electrocuted Friday when a metal boom used to load logs contacted a 3,000 volt power line. The workers, employed by a lumber company, were about six miles south of Antigo and dead on arrival at a hospital. Steckbauer was the father of nine children.

Schools Set New Open Schedule With Orientations
D J Huenink reminds public school children orientation sessions begin at 1 15 p m next Tuesday and the first full day of school is Thursday. All elementary pupils report Tuesday for their first session including Richland Iliff Browntown and Mrs Kings special room. Only new junior high registrants attend Tuesday afternoon and kindergarten questions go to morning or afternoon sessions. Senior high students have registered and do not attend until Thursday morning. Bus service is suspended Tuesday affecting rural junior high students new to the district. Teacher meetings are Wednesday with no students. Classes start Thursday with buses and lunch programs operating. Elementary milk program starts Monday Sept 11. New teachers attend a Kiwanis welcome banquet Monday Labor Day and Dean Dindley Stiles speaks on Teaching Tuesday at 9 a m.

Alpine Festival Opens With Swiss Themed Program At High School
The Alpine Troubadors headline a diverse Alpine Festival at the New Glarus High School tonight featuring Swiss yodeling, Laendler dances, and a finale of God Bless America. Participants include the New Glarus Yodelers, Swiss Church Junior choir, Swiss Misses folk dancers led by Millard Tschudy and Dean Streiff, Swiss Bell Ringers, and notable ensembles like the Alphorn trio of Luescher Ruef Meier.
