Livestock Trucks Hit by Rifle Shots
Merrillan Wisconsin two loaded livestock trucks were struck by rifle bullets on U S Highway 12 near Merrillan. No injuries reported and radiators were pierced. Sheriff Larken suspects a moving car with three men fired from a deer rifle. The incident ties to national farmers action and Alma Center Stockyards began picketing.

Williams accuses Baker of 1960 fund illicit flow

Livestock Shipments Show Increase Here
Green County NFO check stations reported yesterday a total of 312 hogs 83 cattle 82 calves and two sheep. This marks the largest tally since the NFO withholding action began at 4 p m August 19. Angeline Caldwell seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Everett Caldwell drowned yesterday afternoon in the Sugar River above the dam. Belleville firefighters and two men saved her but she could not be revived. Deputy Coroner ruled accidental death with no inquest. Services set for Thursday at the Belleville Methodist church. Steam From Car Hose Triggers City Fire Call
At 8 05 this morning Monroe firemen responded to a car fire across from the Stuessy funeral home. Fire chief Josef J Benkert said the alarm came from smoke seen under the hood but the blaze was only steam from a ruptured radiator hose. The car belonged to James Falk of Janesville.
