Orangeville Soldier Dies in Kansas Crash

Second Lt. Dwight H. Kehler age 20 of Orangeville was killed in a traffic crash 15 miles east of Marysville Kansas while en route to Ft. Riley after visiting relatives. One passenger in the other vehicle died and three were injured. Surviving are his mother three brothers two sisters and grandparents. Funeral at Grace Church with burial in Freeport.

Teachers to attend Wisconsin Education Association convention

Monroe and St Victor's students will have a two day vacation so teachers can attend the 1967 Wisconsin Education Association convention in Milwaukee on November 2 and 3. Ed Anderson of Monroe will speak on the science program in the secondary grades section.

Flu Shots Not Suggested For Healthy Children

The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that normally healthy children not receive influenza vaccines during the 1967 68 season. Immunization should target only children at high risk, with conditions like rheumatic heart disease chronic lung disease kidney or neurological disorders. The report also covers vaccine types boosters and cautions against amantadine use in children.

Tornadoes Ravage Gulfport Area Killing Three

Gulfport Mississippi rescuers searched a two mile strip for additional tornado victims after two funnel storms killed three people and injured scores, causing about five million dollars in damage. Police feared more bodies buried in rubble as National Guardsmen cordoned off the area.

Black Hawk Schools Publish Open House Amid Schedule Change

Black Hawk Community Schools in South Wayne will dismiss at 2 p m Wednesday November 1 and no classes Thursday and Friday November 2 and 3 to let teachers attend a Milwaukee convention. Open House for the junior and senior high schools and for elementary schools is set for Monday evening November 6 from 7 to 10 p m.

Rieder Receives Eagle Rank in Scout Court of Honor

William Rieder Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rieder Jr. received the Eagle rank at a Kiwanis Troop 101 Court of Honor at Moose Hall. Presenters were Gene Madison and Clarence Seaton. Rieder joined in June 1962 and advanced through tenderfoot to Eagle with Star and Life earned by 1966.
