In Rockton Illinois two armed men robbed the Wagon Wheel supper club shortly after a Brink's armored truck collected $20,000 for deposit. They herded four workers into an office, rifled desks, and fled in a white car. a 19 year old employee fainted after being threatened at the exit. The car was later found abandoned in Beloit.

Wealthy Woman Slain by Burglar in Midland Texas
Midland, Tex. Mrs. Fred Turner, part of a wealthy oil and ranch family, died from apparent beating by a burglar. An autopsy suggested homicide, while the burglar held the family at gunpoint before fleeing. A 20 year old Negro youth was arrested nearby. The Turner home was searched as officers pursued details of the break in and assault.
