Miss Elizabeth Buehler Dies After Long Illness
Monroe native Elizabeth Buehler founder and longtime director of the Wisconsin School of Music in Madison died in a Madison nursing home after a long illness. She shaped Madison civic music, taught piano, and helped bring notable artists and the Madison Civic Symphony Orchestra to the community. Born in Monroe, she studied in Vienna and London and taught at the University of Wisconsin before directing the school from 1914. She lived in Madison 65 years and was active in local clubs and arts groups.

Over 150 teenagers from Green Rock Dane and Jefferson Counties enter and will be judged tomorrow morning with district winners advancing to the state event at Stout State University next month. Green County cheese will be served at a post show tea with the Green County Ag Chest County Farm Bureau Women’s organizations and Dairy Queen Princess aiding. Edwin Rufenacht of Monroe Cheese Corp donated cheese for the tea. Total wool program entries in Wisconsin exceed 1000 this year, up from over 500 last year.
