Wisconsin 4H Band and Chorus Touring Troupe Coming to County Event

The 53 member Wisconsin 4H Band and Chorus Touring Troupe will perform at 1 30 p m Saturday Nov 6 in the Monroe Junior High School auditorium as part of the county wide 4 H Achievement Program. The program titled Only In America features 25 band and 28 chorus members selected from the 170 member Wisconsin State 4H Band and Chorus. The troupe has appeared at the State Teacher's Convention and the National 4H Club Congress and is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture Extension Service and the State 4H Club Office with Verne Varney and Kathy Kenes as narrators and Edward Hugdahl and Arne Arneson as musical directors.

Crash Follows Court Charges

Two 20 year olds from Brodhead faced seven counts in Green County Court after a single vehicle crash on Highway 81 nine miles west of Beloit. Duane Boeck suffered facial injuries while Lars Anderson had a broken hip and wrist. Anderson was pinned under the car until a wrecker freed him. Anderson and Boeck were transferred from Brodhead Municipal Court and fined for operating on a sidewalk and after revocation, and Boeck for refusing to obey an officer.

Stars of King and I Perform for Monroe Kiwanis

Monroe High School stars in The King and I entertained Monroe Kiwanis members at Swiss Wheel meeting. Anna role singer Nancy Hughes and king actor John Schuetze performed selections. The musical debuts at Junior High School auditorium on October 27 and 30. Director Jack Close explained the production and Kiwanis officers will be elected at the next noon meeting on October 28.

City Offices Move to New Municipal Building

City offices moved from the old city hall on 16th Ave to the new municipal building on 18th Ave. Police and fire departments occupied the new quarters earlier, while the City Engineer’s office lacks floor work. Harvey Elmer is occupying the room despite unfinished floor.

Cattle TB Tests Begin in Wisconsin Townships

Annual tuberculosis screening ramps up in Adams Jefferson Blanchard Elk Grove and Wayne townships to meet a 1960 plan requiring testing of one sixth of each county's cattle each year. Brucellosis blood tests will accompany TB checks for all herds in those townships. Local veterinarians will conduct the tests.

Blaze at Walter Deegan Farm Extinguished by Brodhead Firemen
