Horicon Goose Hazing Program Shows Early Signs of Reduction

A five year hazing effort at Horicon Marsh costing about 100000 dollars annually began this fall to discourage geese from stopping in Wisconsin. Early counts show 148700 geese at the refuge and 176000 in east central Wisconsin, with fluctuations from last year. Officials caution it is too soon to judge effectiveness as migration patterns shift and reeducation may take years.
