Hundreds of thousands joined in the largest antiwar demonstration with moratorium slogans Bring home the troops Now amid candlelight processions and church services. Some protests read the names of war dead as supporters of policy countered with public displays.
Reports from Paris and other cities describe North Vietnam telling two American wives no prisoner releases until all U.S. troops exit Vietnam. The piece notes possible pressure to protest the war to speed releases.
Jurors for the October term have been drawn by the jury commissioners and announced by Mrs. Helen F. Myers. Judge Arthur L. Luebke will call the Court Calendar at 2 p.m. on Monday October 27 with jurors to report at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday October 28. The panel includes 36 regular members and 18 on reserve. A massive Wisconsin observance drew about 30 000 participants across campuses and communities in cold rain. At Eau Claire State University a parade of 3 000 marched to a federal building while Milwaukee’s War Memorial Center saw an equal crowd. SDS members faced a denied address at the Field House as 900 Wisconsin dead were named at Capitol Square under steady rainfall. The Madison turnout surpassed other states, highlighting one of the nation’s largest Moratorium Day events.
Monroe High School Choruses present Camelot in the Monroe Junior High School Auditorium on October 29 and November 1 at 8 p.m. Cast includes King Arthur Robert Baumann Guenevere Carolyn Myers Lancelot Paul Goetz and Mordred Chris Barth with Morgan le Fey Mary Jo Urban. 81 Monroe students perform in singing dancing and speaking roles. Tickets are 1 for chorus members 125 at the door for students and 150 for adults.
Honey Sunday on October 26 is declared by Wisconsin Jaycees to fund the proposed Wisconsin Badger Camp for the retarded. Greg Wenger of Monroe chairs the drive with honey sold door to door statewide from 1 to 5 p.m. in cities towns and rural areas.

A special meeting at Black Hawk High School in South Wayne reviewed a proposed $350,000 school addition with $40,000 for equipment and remodeling. Architect Anacker outlined plans for a larger music room kitchen library and new office complex along with seven added or consolidated rural and high school spaces.
