Losses Heavy From 2 Fires In Green County Farms Burned
Two rural fires in Green County overnight destroyed a Dale Atkinson farm barn and milking parlor with 26 calves and hay, and a William Grant farm house. Lightning likely caused both blazes. Monroe Fire Department fought the Grant fire at 10 30 p.m. Friday, Albany Firemen battled the Atkinson blaze starting 12 11 a.m. Saturday with Mutual Aid from Brodhead. The Atkinson milkhouse was saved, cows were grazing, and a stray bull was injured in the flames. Fire crews battled flames as hay burned into pre dawn hours. Personal belongings were lost for John Simonson and a male renter at the Grant house.
