Lawyers win 20 day extension in Alfonsi appeal

Wisconsin lawyers for former Assemblyman Paul Alfonsi received a 20 day extension to file written arguments with the Supreme Court. Alfonsi seeks a Dec or Jan ruling on his bribery conviction tied to a $100 check alleged as travel reimbursement. The case could be heard the week of Nov. 28 with a late December decision expected.

Johnson Dies After Accident in Green County

Green County records its 10th traffic fatality of the year with Richard Paul Johnson, 22, of Brodhead, killed in an early morning crash on Highways 11-81 east of Juta. Coroner rules death accidental. no inquest. Johnson, born Feb 18, 1944, was a 1962 Brodhead High grad and Vietnam veteran.
