W. G. Elliott Dies at 52 Monticello Hotel Owner
William G. Elliott 52, owner of the Monticello hotel known as the Casino, died at 10:30 p m in St Clare hospital after two weeks as a surgical patient. Born in Minneapolis on June 27 1902 he was a Minnesota law school graduate and long time insurer claims agent. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the 34th Division during WWII and saw 59 months overseas in the Southwest Pacific. He was a past commander of the Monticello American Legion Post 256 and held several civic offices. Survived only by his wife Christine Olson Elliott married December 30 1947 in Chicago. Full military rites to be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Monday afternoon with funeral in Monticello Evangelical United Brethren church.

Chicago relatives learned the estate of 68 year old office boy John Nelson totaled about 150000 after investigators found 16000 in bank savings accounts and a safe deposit key in his Loop bank box. The box held 17 stock issues valued around 120000 plus 6900 in cash and 6300 in U S savings bonds. No will was found. He died Tuesday of a heart attack.
