Accidents mar Green County weekend with seven crashes

Seven accidents reported in Green County over the fall weekend including four in Monroe and one in Lafayette County. Victims include 18 year old Larry Ziltener with head injuries after a motorcycle crash on Highway 39 near Albany and 67 year old William Hamilton with facial injuries after a Highway 81 collision near Monroe.

Cattle Judging Teams Train Across States Ahead of Waterloo Meet

Fifteen cattle judging teams from states and Canada gathered at Meythaler Cold Springs Farm and Voegels Farms in Monticello, Wisconsin, for pre national workouts ahead of the National Dairy Congress in Waterloo Iowa. University dairy science staff and state coaches led sessions as teams toured farms and held practice judging sessions.

Johnson To Campaign In Two Illinois Cities

President Johnson added Peoria and Springfield Illinois and Nashville Tennessee to his week long campaign swing starting Tuesday. He will appear in the Illinois cities Wednesday and stop in Nashville Friday between visits to Louisville Kentucky and New Orleans Louisiana.

Highway Plans to be Studied by Planning Commission

A Planning Commission meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday will discuss proposed Highway 39 location and a city zoning ordinance under study. Green Engineering consultant Donald Gerhard will attend. Eleven Die On Wisconsin Roads In Weekend Crash Toll

The Associated Press reports 11 more deaths in Wisconsin weekend crashes, raising the 1964 toll to 812. Fatalities include Albert Hemmersback 57 and Eleanor Hemmersback 57 of Wilton, James Brower 41 of Black River Falls, Josephine Eberle 72 of Omro, and others across Jackson Winnebago Calumet and La Crosse counties. Mass East German tunnel escape through Red Wall to West Berlin

Fifty seven East Germans fled to West Berlin this weekend via a tunnel dug under the Red wall. One East German border guard was shot dead by armed bandits. Refugees totaled 57, including 23 men 31 women and 3 children, all unhurt. The escape likely the third successful tunnel in recent months.
