Eight Injured In Weekend County Crashes

Seven people were treated at St. Clare hospital after two county accidents. One crash at East Albany village limits involved six injured, including a Monroe girl and a Madison couple. Charges were filed against John J. Elmer and Charles D. Raisbeck for operating while intoxicated.

'Glued On' Kernels Lose Corn Title for Pecatonica Brothers

County Officers Find More Loot From Thefts

County officers recovered a modern kitchen set and stove linked to thefts by two Monroe men. A coal and wood burner stolen from Mrs Mabel Reynolds south of Franklin school was found but not yet recovered. The kitchen set from a farm home south of Monroe was found in a Freeport second hand store. Delbert Boss and Norman Strothman, both indicted, pleaded guilty to larceny and await sentence as investigations continue in multiple counties.

McDermott, Killer of Ohio Publisher, Escapes from Prison

Patrick Eugene McDermott, 55, who killed Canton Daily News publisher Don R. Mellett in 1926, again escaped Ohio State Penitentiary. He, with a woman visitor, left in a dormitory area as guards watched. Previously he escaped in 1929 with a rope made from clothing and was recaptured the next day.

Claude Wideman Dies at 64 in Jefferson Township

Claude Elmer Wideman 64 of Jefferson Township died this morning at St. Clare hospital after a 10 week illness. He was born June 4 1890 in Rock Grove Township. Survived by wife Ruth Milks a daughter Mrs Frank Koch Juda a son John Wideman Juda four grandchildren and three step grandchildren. Services 2 pm Wednesday at St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church Rock Grove with Rev Henry F Neal officiating. Burial in Rock Grove cemetery. Everson funeral home to provide arrangements.

Relocation Damage Hearing Under Way

Vandalism Wave Reported Across Rock County
