Renk Group Adds Kuehn Knowles Olson To Panel

Gerald M. Anderson, 24, released from county jail after seven months, is to be charged by the Air Force with the premeditated murder of Nancy Joy Johnson, 22, and her son Danny, 2, at Mountain Home AFB. Fire in corn field prompts alarm near Alphorn motel

A blaze triggered a general alarm at 4 40 p m yesterday in a corn field behind the Alphorn motel one mile north of the city. Mrs Christine Belle Elliott reported the fire after seeing corn burn near railroad tracks on the field’s east edge. Her son in law Robert Bayrhoffer had started the fire to burn corn stubble and watched the blaze.

Polio Cases Reported in Wisconsin Counties

The State Board of Health reported polio cases in La Crosse and Marinette Counties for the week ending November 17. Wisconsin total for 1962 is 10, down from 32 a year earlier.

Three From State Among 97 Die In Peru Crash

Milwaukee three Wisconsin residents are among 97 killed when a Varig Airline jet crashed near Lima Peru. Walter Curtis Gardner 43 of Milwaukee an Allis-Chalmers International official and distributor relations manager on a business trip. Mr and Mrs Robert Morris 40 of Menomonee Falls were Varig sales representative and his wife leaving behind three children. The children were placed with their maternal grandmother in Aurora Illinois.

One-Car Crash Kills Man West of Delavan

A Walworth County man, Robert Lee Jefferson, 23, of rural Darien, died when a convertible rolled over twice on Highway 11 west of Delavan. Passenger Robert Caldwell Jr., 20, of rural Richmond Illinois, was injured after being ejected from the car. Jefferson was Wisconsin’s 857th traffic fatality.

Beloit Holds Nurse Who Abandoned Baby

Beloit police said Carolyn Barbara Smithson a 34 year old Chicago nurse admitted abandoning her newborn daughter behind a downtown Beloit building Monday night. She signed a statement that the child was born in a Beloit area home and left the infant beneath an oil drum around 9 p.m. hoping it would be found quickly. The child was found by two officers at about 9:30 p.m. and taken to a hospital in good condition. The nurse was hospitalized for observation and medical treatment.
