Robert J. Minard, 20, of Janesville Route 4, was killed instantly in a one vehicle crash in Albany Township about 9 30 am. The coroner said no inquest would be held. The truck carried egg cases and was owned by Kero Egg Co. of Bernstead Illinois.

Bill Bertness 69 Dies at Madison VA Hospital
Ephraim Bill Bertness 69 died at 7:15 a.m. today at the Madison VA hospital where he had been a patient since April 5 after a stroke on Nov. 16. A Monroe resident for 15 years, he was born May 23, 1891 in Orfordville and served in World War I with the 69th Coast Artillery. He was a former Brodhead resident and lived in Harvard, Illinois for years running a blacksmith shop. Surviving sister Lula Silver of Albany. he was predeceased by brothers Byron Theodore Ferry and sister Minnie Bulling. Arrangements pending at Everson funeral home Brodhead.

Two Gun Injuries Reported in Green County Area
Two shooting mishaps occurred in Green County with non life threatening injuries. Belleville teen Vance Mannetter, 18, was treated at St. Clare hospital for a .22 rifle wound to the hand after tripping and causing the gun to discharge. Racine residents Norbert Haney and Earl Meyers reported Meyers was hit by two pellets, one in the neck and one in the forehead, during a hunting incident on Pinnow Estate farm in Decatur Township. Conservation Department officials were investigating both incidents.
