Mrs Emma Beer 73 of 816 11th street died at 3 45 p m yesterday at St Clare hospital after a several months illness. Born Oct 23 1885 in Canton Bern Switzerland she married Fred Beer Sr Nov 16 1905 in Switzerland. They moved to Monroe then to Monroe where he carpentered. Survived by nine children three generations of grandchildren and six great grandchildren a sister in Switzerland and her husband died in 1956. Services 2 p m Wednesday Stuessy funeral home Rev Paul H Olm officiating burial Green collar cemetery. Burial after 3 p m tomorrow.

Ganshert Named Monroe Carol Award Candidate
Mrs. Joseph R. Ganshert, 32, of Monroe, chosen as the city’s first candidate for the Wisconsin Carol Award by the Monroe Jaycettes for her community service and devoted family life. The award honors five outstanding Wisconsin women in categories including motherhood, education, welfare, handicapped services, and business. Ganshert, wife of a Monroe dentist, is mother to eight, fostered four after their parents’ 1955 death, and later adopted two more. She serves with Knights of Columbus auxiliary and other local groups, organized the Monroe Jaycettes, led a Brownie troop of 16, and will co-chair a 20 year high school reunion in 1963. State winners will be announced at the December 6 Midyear convention in Waukesha.
