Church services vigils and rallies marked the second Vietnam Moratorium as nationwide demonstrations head toward a weekend climax. Amid the protests there were expressions of support for President Nixon's Vietnam policies.
A random national survey of 21 radio and television stations shows about 3 to 1 support for Vice President Spiro Agnew's call for straighter news. Supporters totaled 3,296 calls while opponents numbered 1,389.
The Wisconsin Senate defeated a proposal by a 18-13 vote directing the Highway Department to issue licenses for 65-foot trucks on four-lane divided highways. TheAP Madison report notes the setback for proponents of longer trucks in the 1969 legislature.
Wisconsin Assembly approved a proposal to legalize selling birth control devices to unmarried persons over 18. Devices would be distributed only by licensed pharmacists or doctors and remain barred for abortion purposes. The tally was 51 to 45.
The Wisconsin Assembly approved an $14 million state employee fringe benefit package by an 80 to 17 vote and sent the measure to the Senate. Funding includes $5 million from a revised unclaimed property act and segregated funds. $3 million awaits Senate decision.
In Manitowoc AP report, the 377th Light Maintenance Company returns after a dramatic late arrival. Captain Donald Janda leads the unit as 35 Army Reserve groups sent to Vietnam last year come home, marking a long awaited homecoming for troops who endured a 142 hour delay and a near runway miss before landing.

Apollo 12 astronauts Pete Conrad Richard Gordon and Alan Bean rode the Yankee Clipper into orbit despite heavy rain and a lightning threat. The Saturn V launched at 11 22 a m EST and briefly flickered as alarms and a possible lightning strike affected systems but orbit was achieved and the crew prepared for a 72 hour lunar pass. President Nixon watched in the rain as America’s second moon mission began amid the worst weather ever for a manned liftoff.
The Green County Board of Supervisors heard the proposed 1970 budget in a public session in the Circuit Courtroom. Adoption is deferred to a future date called by Chairman C. S. Pierce. Finance chief Orville R. Evans presented the budget as a committee of the whole with salary adjustments awaiting consideration.
Miss Mary Lou Maher 27 daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Maher Route 1 Albany will represent Wisconsin in the Miss Northern Hemisphere Contest in Rhode Island the day after Thanksgiving. She is a buyer at Simpsons in Madison she models and appeared in a Hilldale store style show. A Patricia Stevens Milwaukee graduate she previously worked for Revlon in Chicago and the East training beauty advisors and managing interviews.
