Baker 82 of 533 16th avenue Monroe died at 5 30 this morning in St. Clare hospital after two years of illness from malignancy He was born March 6 1880 in Stephenson County Illinois and married Ida Fay Heigerned in Lena Illinois on October 16 1910 They farmed in Lena and Winslow before moving to Monroe in 1941 He worked as a carpenter with Frank Priewe retiring in 1953 Surviving are two sons Roland C Baker and Donald R Baker a sister Mrs John Diestelmeier five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife Jan 27 1942 a daughter in infancy a brother a half brother and a sister Services will be 2 pm Friday at Stuessy funeral home Rev Donald R Storck will officiate Burial will be in Holly Grove cemetery Friends may call after 3 pm at the funeral home

Residents can receive public tetanus immunizations at a Friday Monroe clinic at the Community Center from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The first clinic opened in Monticello today, with additional sessions planned in New Glarus and Albany. Police in Brooklyn investigated three early morning burglaries at K G Smith Lumber Co Co Op Tire and Oil station and Anchor Club in Green County.
