City Council Approves Liquor License Transfer
The Monroe City Council in a special session approved transferring a liquor license from a burned West Side location to the Eugene Hotel. Circuit Judge Richard Orton ruled the Oct 15 21 district reapportionment plan for Lafayette County 28 member board violated equal representation and one vote per person standards. A new plan must be certified by 10 a.m. Saturday Nov 20 or the court will redraw districts. The special committee led by Byron Berg will report to the County Board next Tuesday.

Zely Delivers Nine Puppies at Alfred Meier Farm
Zely the St Bernard mascot of the Chicago Fire Department gave birth to five females and four males at the Alfred Meier farm on Veterans Day. Father Onar and mother Zely, both Swiss imports, produced the litter with no veterinary aid. The pups will stay at the kennel for about two weeks as visiting firemen may stop by.
