Brodhead Man Hurt in Head On Collision
A Brodhead man Albert Sprecher 22 was injured in a head on crash with a rural Beloit woman Marian Lichtenberg 38 who died at the scene on Highway 81 five miles southeast of Brodhead. Sprecher was treated at St Clare hospital for a fractured knee and facial injuries. The accident occurred as Lichtenberg attempted to pass a tractor causing a near 200 foot skid before impact. Sprecher was en route home from Rockford. Lichtenberg was traveling east. Both cars were demolished.

Girl Scouts Plan Monroe Convention Focuses Region Seven
More than 150 Badger council senior Girl Scouts and leaders from Rock Walworth and Green Counties gather at First Methodist Church in Monroe for the second annual conference. Judith Smith of Monroe chairs the event with guest speaker Mrs Alan C Mattison of Rockford outlining Region Seven and National Council links. Activities include huddle sessions on senior scout programs and future vocations, a fashion show, and a cheese factory tour with registration at 4 30 p m and dinner at 7 p m tomorrow. Saturday sessions run 8 30 a m to 3 p m with housing provided by Monroe families.

Regulations Explained State Deer Hunt Opens Saturday
State conservation official Harold Pederson outlined the deer season rules as opening at 6 19 a m Saturday. Open counties include Dane Green Lafayette Jefferson Rock and others with shotgun only zones from Nov 15 through Nov 23. A party permit extends throughout the state except in the Mississippi River zone allowing a bonus deer for groups of four hunters. Deer must be registered by 10 p m the day after harvest and registration locations are listed in Green and Lafayette counties. A new yellow party license card and 150000 registration tags will be used for tracking including bears.

Nelson to Offer One Year Wisconsin Budget
Gov elect Gaylord Nelson said he will draft a one year budget for Wisconsin and return to the Legislature for funds in the 1959 61 biennium. He will start budget hearings November 24 for three to four weeks with agency heads proposing about 50 million dollars more than anticipated revenue. Nelson calls for tax reform to meet needs as debt cannot be incurred and notes a fiscal crisis at state and local levels.
