Farmers Hear Henry Ahlgren on fair share of national income
Henry L. Ahlgren associate extension director at the University of Wisconsin told Green County farmers they deserve a 2 fair share of the national income as voluntary custodians of resources. He spoke at the fourth annual Jay cee Soil Conservation Recognition Night in Turner hall noting a cost price squeeze and the need to conserve land. He warned that in five to ten years either voluntary conservation or laws will govern farming. Three top county farmers were named Theron Kellesvig Donavan Digmen and Ben Deininger. Circuit Judge Harry S. Fox will address the audience Monday noon and a jury will be chosen at the trial. Monroe Hosts Swiss Gymnasts On 1956 Tour
The Swiss Olympic gymnastic team will tour the United States in 1956 with Monroe on their itinerary. Sponsored by the Monroe Turn and Schwing Club they will perform at the local high school gymnasium on Saturday night January 21 and Sunday afternoon January 22. The squad includes nine gymnasts two musicians and the manager and will arrive in early year after engagements in the east then Cleveland Monroe and Milwaukee. LeRoy Wuethrich witnessed Swiss gymnastics at the National Turnfest in Switzerland last July as Monroe club representative. He previously flew to Finland in 1952 for Olympic events.
