Five 4-H clubs in the New Glarus area achieved 100 percent project completion at district achievement day. Dayton Mt. Pleasant New Glarus and York each earned four gold stars, while Jolly Mixers matched with two gold stars. Special awards honored dairy, garden, home grounds, sheep, tractor maintenance, foods and nutrition, home furnishings, farm safety, and conservation among members from Dayton New Glarus and York clubs.

Fatal Traffic Death of G E Wenger in Monroe
George E Wenger Jr 74 of 1424 14th avenue died at St Clare hospital after being struck by Harold J Shonts 1711 10th street as Wenger crossed near the Monroe Clinic. Post traumatic shock caused death. Wenger had leg fracture punctured lung surgery, critical condition since the accident. Last Monroe traffic fatality was Christ Kappeler Sept 3 1945. Services set for 2 pm Saturday at Stuessy funeral home with Rev Paul Kehle. Burial Greenwood cemetery.

Gerald Sawdey, 37, of Juda, was brought to St. Clare hospital at 5:50 a m for a fractured left collarbone after an auto crash at 4 a m near Juda. He reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. the car struck a culvert at a railroad crossing while returning from Be loit where he works at the Fairbanks plant.

At the U N assembly the United States presented a detailed step by step disarmament and arms count plan under UN control. Vishinsky ridiculed the proposal and countered with a Soviet plan calling for a Korea cease fire within 10 days and foreign troop withdrawal within 30 days.
