About 100 Viet Cong guerrillas attacked government outposts defending Saigon in a surge said to begin the enemy winter campaign. Across the country 68 rocket and mortar attacks were reported the heaviest in over two months.

Three labor unions and a company signed a contract Thursday to build prefabricated three bedroom homes on an assembly line basis. The government says the plan could help ease the housing shortage with houses under 10 000 dollars, including utilities.

Body Recovered After Tanker Keo Disaster Near Nantucket

An unidentified body and an empty lifeboat marked Keo were found Thursday night about 40 miles southeast of the Keo wreck site where the 629 foot Liberian tanker broke apart. The Coast Guard said the body was recovered by the USS Fox during a wide search of 20,000 miles of ocean off Nantucket.

Wisconsin Senate Approves $35 Million Bridge Bonding

The Wisconsin Senate approved a $35 million bonding program to fund reconstruction and repair of dangerous obsolete bridges. Senator Reuben La Fave R-Oconto noted urgent needs to replace aging structures, with 24 bridges named as top priority projects.

IRS breaks zip code data by area not to bulk mailers

The IRS announced it has zip code level data on taxpayers including joint and single filers, dependents, and income brackets for 34 000 areas but will not release it to bulk mailing firms. Papst Brewing Co. said beer prices will rise up to 31 cents a case due to Wisconsin excise tax increase.

Monroe Native Mrs Watson Dies in Los Angeles

Mrs. Philip Watson 47 formerly Margaret Schindler, of Monroe, died of a heart attack in her Los Angeles home. She was found by her husband on his return from his county assessor duties. Born April 12, 1922, she was valedictorian of Monroe High School 1939 and UW graduate. She had a varied career in newspaper work and broadcasting. Funeral plans are pending in California.

Lehner children to sing Swiss Night in Monroe Turner Hall

The Lehner children from Mt Horeb join multiple groups for a full night of Swiss entertainment on Saturday November 8 in Monroe Turner Hall.
