Work Begins On New Plant In Brodhead
Ground breaking ceremonies mark the start of the Apeco Manufacturing Co plant to be built on a five acre site facing 7th avenue West. The facility will be 228 by 180 feet with a 216 by 24 foot brick front housing offices rest rooms and heating plant. Apco, maker of infant wear, currently employs 130 in Brodhead and plans to hire 350 after completion. The plant will include a cutting department and a screen process department and products will be shipped in air tight bags to retailers including Sears Roebuck Spiegel and others. The Brodhead Progress group of 40 local businessmen secured the site.
