A proposed 1959 city budget of 490510.95 will be presented to the City Council with a public hearing planned later this month. The draft shows a 58775.45 increase over 1958 and projects tax rate rises near 1 per thousand, with larger jumps in police protection and highways.
Members of 4 H clubs and FFA chapters who contributed to conservation projects last year will be honored at an awards ceremony in the Ball school at 8 p.m. Monday. The Richland Creek Watershed Association and First National Bank sponsor the event with speakers James Schwoegler and Myron E Jeglum. A wildlife film will be shown and awards presented by extension staff and vocational agriculture teachers. The Clarno Classy Clubbers provide entertainment and a luncheon will follow.

Juda Times Special notes Minnie Mohns Juda observed her 95th birthday on a Saturday. Born in Germany November 1, 1863, she came to America in 1884. She married Henry Mohns in 1885, farmed north of Juda until 1913, then retired to Juda. her husband died years ago.
The 1958 Monroe United Fund Appeal shows $17,096 in gifts and pledges, 91.5 percent of the $18,680 goal. Leaders renewed appeals to business firms and solicitors to complete cards and deliver figures to the collection center at the Commercial and Savings Bank.
Monroe public schools will dismiss Wednesday at noon as teachers attend the Wisconsin Education Association fall meeting in Milwaukee. High school ends 12:15 pm, elementary at noon, kindergartens meet in two sessions. no classes Thursday or Friday. Football at Monona Grove is moved to Tuesday as the Badger Conference season closes.
A 13-year-old boy admitted shooting 12-year-old David Benson after heckling, taking $6, then shooting him in the head as he begged for life. Benson, a Boy Scout, was found in a ravine near Joliet after an all night search. Raleigh Robinette, questioned in Chicago, confessed after hours of interrogation.
The Petersons will caravan to Mexico next June in a self built mobile home on a former Dairyland bus. Judge Peterson and Robert G. Rote converted the bus with a bathroom kitchen dinette six bunks and room for three more. The interior features wall to wall carpet silver walnut trim and ample closet space. Four children are in the family Chris Christina Timothy and Elizabeth.
Former President Herbert Hoover aged 84 cast a vote and said he had no idea how the election would turn out. He added that one must be young and vigorous to engage in a political campaign.

Green County Shrine Club finance committee voted $500 gifts to Shrine hospitals in Minneapolis and Chicago from its share of last Augusts KC Shrine benefit proceeds. The event net totaled $2,277.51 as reported by Alden J. Hawthorne. The remaining Shrine share funds will support crippled and handicapped children locally.
