Ten Die In State Weekend Accidents As Toll Rises

Gerald Wescott family of ten lost their Avon Township home in a Sunday fire that destroyed the two story structure. Fire departments from Brodhead Orfordville Durand and Footville fought to save the property but only the refrigerator survived. Insurance covered about a third of the more than 10 000 damage. The family seeks clothing and household goods with a drive organized by Dean Peterson of South Side Grocery Brodhead. The mother had just returned from St Clare hospital with newborn twins born Oct 25.

Wayne Austin of Belleville escaped injury when his bulk milk truck caught fire and struck a tree on Highway 69 two miles south of Belleville. The flames ignited a grass fire on the Walter Beutler farm. firefighters from Belleville battled the blaze for 45 minutes.

Gotfred Wuthrich 92 a Green County resident since 1885 died of a heart attack at a Green County hospital.
