More than 225 youngsters joined the Lincoln school parade around the square led by Police Officer Clifford M. Geigel. The Lincoln gym housed a film show and a Halloween dance for younger students, while 125 seventh and eighth graders held a party at the Youth center.
Temperatures fell to 19 degrees this morning with forecasts for further drops to 14 to 18 degrees tonight. The reading reached 34 briefly after midnight before warming, and the day was expected to see a continued downward trend despite a temporary rise.
Tehran deputy premier Hossein Maki says the world's largest refinery at Abadan, shut for weeks amid a ownership dispute with Britain, will reopen Sunday.
In Beltzhoover Pittsburgh a gas explosion in a confectionery store basement felled 32 year old Mrs Helen Kellington and wounded 28 others during a Halloween parade. Fire Chief Coslett blamed a broken gas main for the blasts as hundreds of paraders fled and children were moved to a recreation lot and community center.

A lone hunter killed a charging male leopard after daybreak firing three rifle shots and clubbing the beast. The other leopard, a female, was killed the previous afternoon by an Arkansas state highway patrolman. The leopards and other escaped animals fled into Ouachita National Forest after a circus van wreck 15 miles northwest of Mt. Ida. An organized hunt for the bears was under way.
The government will order federally inspected slaughterers next month to set aside part of their beef for the armed services. Price Director Michael Di Salle says this priority is needed due to a severe meat shortage. Slaughterers must allocate top grade beef when their output exceeds a threshold of their 1950 volume.
Rev Lynn F B Tschudy of Millersburg Ohio will take over duties Sunday as pastor of Swiss Evangelical and Reformed church in New Glarus. He is the son of Rev Fred Tschudy retired in Long Beach California and has three children with wife.
The Wisconsin Education Association opens its annual convention in Milwaukee with about 13 000 public school teachers. The three day meeting features representative assembly sessions and general and sectional discussions. The Wisconsin Federation of Teachers also meets with 500 to 600 teachers. A resolutions committee cites alarm at the current shortage of professionally trained teachers in Wisconsin and urges more Future Teachers of America chapters in state high schools under NEA supervision.
United Nations briefed that Allied and Communist negotiators were in general agreement on the eastern half of a Korean armistice buffer zone from Kumhwa to the east coast. Disputes remained over Kaesong and the western line, with a protracted war possible after any boundary accord. Also reported, U S Marines conducted a helicopter assault behind UN lines against a guerrilla stronghold, involving 33 volunteers in a two-helicopter raid seven miles into North Korea.
John H. Stockdale 60 principal of Belmont High School died of a heart attack in Milwaukee shortly after arriving for the Wisconsin Education Association convention. He collapsed after checking into his hotel and attending a theater performance. he was pronounced dead at County Emergency Hospital.
