Editorial: No Torch To Pass In Nehru’s Death
An editorial criticizes Nehru for not naming a successor and for delaying the transfer of power, arguing his reluctance could destabilize India and invite Western pressure amid Cold War tensions. It notes Krishna Menon’s betrayal, weakening India’s defense and hindering U.S. aims against Red China, and contends Nehru avoided choosing a successor for that reason.
