The Moose Lodge of Monroe plans a Saturday evening May 25 entertainment for fire department members and their wives at Moose Hall. Roger Severson serves as general chairman. Wisconsin Day at Mooseheart was discussed and urged attendance for Sunday June 2. The annual Land Judging Contest, run with the Green County Agriculture committee, was also planned. About 30 members attended and lunch was served by Lyle Sickinger.
Monticello schedules its Memorial Day events on May 30 with a 9:30 a.m. parade assembling at 9 a.m. Clarence Blumer leads the parade as marshal while Harold Babler directs the firing squad. The procession includes Colors, Legion members, veterans, Gold Star Mothers, school bands, and scouts, followed by a program at the high school and a final service at the American Legion Monument.
WP and L vice president William H. Ferris says MG and E generators failed at 7 08 p m triggering WP and L to take on half the load via interconnections and briefly carry nearly all MG and E load while restoration occurred. He notes interconnections with Wisconsin Electric can handle full MG and E load and reports no serious WP and L system problems during the 30 minute disruption.

Glenn L. Hagar of Gays Mills receives promotion to permanent lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve. He serves Wisconsin's Third District as admissions counselor for the Air Force Academy and has been an active reservist since 1945 after World War II service as a pilot and flight instructor. He previously published the Crawford County Independent and remains its business manager.
