Five members of the British delegation to the world security conference offered their resignations today after Prime Minister Churchill quit. Only Lord Halifax remains as an unresigned representative of the United Kingdom at the conference.

Pfc John Leroy Whitehead of Monroe, a prisoner of war in Germany since December, was released and reports to Mrs Allie Van Matre that he is well and safe. He writes from France dated May 14 that he flew part of the way from the camp and rode trains and buses the rest. He will spend a 60 day furlough before reporting for reassignment.
AP reports Julius Streicher, infamous Jew baiter, seized on a Bavarian farm by 101st airborne officers. Himmler and von Ribbentrop remain at large with Goering captured nearby. Gen Franz von Epp allegedly in custody after surrender near Schloss Fischhorn in the Zeller See.
John H. Kraft, president of Kraft Cheese, warns a Wisconsin bill to bar national dairy firms from owning cheese plants could shutter several plants and cooperative factories. He notes milk and cheese production trends, cites state data on factory counts and output, and admits Kraft has bought seven Wisconsin plants in 15 years, three for research.
The Monroe Gin Rummy and Recreational association held a two section tournament at the Eugene hotel last night. Ralph M. Wenger and Carl Marty Jr. won top prizes, while Alois Ruf and R. H. Schoon were rewarded for lower finishes. Clarence W. Lengacher, county clerk, serves as ex-officio secretary and press agent and will provide regular reports on the society’s activities.

Gustaves A Block aged 71 died after a fall in his home at 1309 9th street. He fractured his skull in a basement accident about 6 30 p m while returning from work. Survived by a son, four daughters, two brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral: Rev Alvin C Rabell at Mt Vernon cemetery Juda.
A major blaze at the Harry Brest Packing Company in Shamokin Pennsylvania yesterday consumed about three tons of hams and bacon. Firefighters fought the flames and prevented spread to nearby facilities. No injuries were reported.
