June Dairy Month Recipe Contest Opens with Dairy Salads

Green County residents 16 and older may enter the dairy salad contest running weekly from May 26 to June 21 and a final tasting on June 27. Entrants must include two dairy products, provide contact details, and mail recipes to the Agricultural Building Monroe. Co chairs are Mrs Don Witt and Mrs Ralph Baltzer.

Area Home Burns and Family Seeks Help Outside Warren

The Hill family of ten lost their two story rental near Warren when an oil furnace explosion ignited the home, leaving them homeless with only the clothes they wore. They are staying with relatives in Apple River and donations of clothing and household items are sought at Apple River Motor Co. and with Walter Schuepp in Monroe. Ray Hill Jr., a Vietnam veteran on leave, is among the children aged 3 to 14, plus a 21 year old son.

Monroe High award assemblies honor UW Alumni scholar

The first of two student award assemblies at Monroe High School honored Christine Schuepp as the UW Alumni scholarship recipient. Perfect attendance awards went to Tom Peterson and Linda Bury, with Mary Usher earning a DAR certificate. Drama, band, debate, and GAA awards were presented to numerous students, with trees planted by the student exchange group and further honors to be announced later.

Famed Dirty Helen Of Milwaukee Dies At 83

Milwaukee remembers Helen Cromell known as Dirty Helen who ran the Sun Flower Inn for 34 years on Milwaukee’s near West Side. She died at 83 after a blood clot while living in a nursing center. born in Noblesville Indiana, she will be buried there.
