Miss Donna Holcomb daughter of Mrs Mildred Holcomb Monroe was named recipient of a Rotary Scholarship worth 300 dollars She is a 1967 Monroe High School graduate and will attend Whitewater State University School of Education for a special English major She has led as cheer captain and participated in chorus and other school activities. A Rotary Scholarship of 150 dollars for seniors at South Wayne and New Glarus High Schools is also under consideration by their boards.

Platteville Riots Quieted by 140 Officers Aid
Platteville residents faced a third night of student unrest as about 1,000 Wisconsin State University students protested downtown. Four Monroe officers helped quell the mob, aided by 140 law enforcers from 10 counties and six cities. The disturbance centered on a city ordinance restricting 21 and under beer service, with rioters evicted from the student center and forced back toward campus areas.

Monroe Forensics students gave four talks at the Monroe Rotary Club meeting after lunch at Idle Hour Mansion.
