A million-dollar blaze at the Corpus Christi port was quelled after firefighters used carbon dioxide foamite to suffocate the flames. Fred Sterchi Dies at Monticello at 49
Fred Sterchi 49 was found dead late at his Railroad avenue home in Monticello. Death by hanging is believed to have occurred Thursday. Coroner Herman A. Stuessy said no inquest would be held. He was a New Glarus native, born December 24 1902, and moved to Monticello in 1920. He worked in Madison and Chicago restaurants and hotels. Services will be at 2 p m tomorrow at Voegeli funeral home, with Rev. Lynn F B Tschudy officiating. Burial in Highland cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p m today.
