Exchange Picks Thirty Students In Monroe Abilene Texas
From a list of nearly seventy applicants thirty Monroe students were chosen for the eleventh annual student exchange with Cooper High School Abilene Texas. They held their first meeting to elect a temporary chairman for summer activities Miss Mary Zupane will serve in that role. The 1969 70 exchange will run with Abilene from November 6 to 16 with sightseeing en route and five days away from school.

Richland Creek Watershed Association members and neighbors held a plow-in for Robert Wilde of Route 2 Monroe. About sixty acres were plowed for corn. Delbert Shafer of Mobil Oil donated gasoline. Albert Deppeler supplied cheese and Robert Faiths provided lunch.

The Drama Department of the Woman's Club of Monroe will present two one act comedies Not Enough Rope and The Income Tax Man on Sunday May 18 at 7 30 pm in Monroe High School Lecture Hall. Admission is free with a voluntary offering to cover expenses. West, past commander of Zilmer Riley Post 84, was unanimously chosen president of the Post Commanders Club at the annual banquet. Robert Hendrickson presented the Past Commanders Pin, and West’s wife funded the diamond pin. Illiam Eberhardt welcomed 24 past commanders and guests. Dwight Coplien spoke on the Little Red School on the Hill and riot era police work. A memorial for Olin Flisram was observed. Volunteers to sell poppies were Alfred Henning, John Marty, Ralph Lindsay, Paul Lochner, H C Schulz, Edward Niffenegger. The club opposed changing Memorial Day Armistice Day and Pearl Harbor Day dates. The next meeting is May 20 1970.

Green County 4 H and FFA Dairy Judging Contest will be held Friday May 23 at 8 p m. Participants aged 9 to 13 meet at the Donald Deininger Farm and those 14 to 21 at the Ernest Wegmueller Farm. After judging at each site, groups switch and placings with reasons are given at the Deininger Farm.

Clarno couple Emil and Frau Preisig left 41 years of hillside garden and a large Edelweiss bed to reside at Churchill Woods Apartments Monroe. They moved April 23 and host an open house May 18 2 to 4 pm by Monroe Housing Authority with private units open for inspection. Their daughter Esther Churchill Beloit and Evelyn Copeland Richland wash have four granddaughters and three great grandchildren.
